Week at a Glance: May 11-15

I hope everyone had a great weekend and a Happy Mother's Day! Here is what we will be working on this week:
  • Phonics/Sight Words: CVC, blends, digraph review, new sight words: had
  • Reading: Features of non-fiction text and reviewing previous skills
  • Writing: Poetry
  • Math: Measurement and Reviewing addition/subtraction
  • Science: Ocean Animals

Reminders:
  • Our class play will be Thursday, May 14th at 6:00
  • Our field trip to the San Antonio Aquarium is Friday, May 22nd. Please make sure you have returned the permission slip.

Week at a Glance: April 27-May 1

Reminders:
  • Our class play will be Thursday, May 14th.  Please make sure you have returned the permission slip, so we can make changes if needed.
  • Our field trip to the San Antonio Aquarium is Friday, May 22nd.  Permission slips were sent home today.

  • We will have our last Book Fair next week.  More information will be sent home soon.

Week at a Glance: April 6-10

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Here is what we will be working on this week:

  • Reading: Features of non-fiction text
  • Writing: Writing for a Reason
  • Math: Introducing coins, Teen number review
  • Social Studies: Our Neighborhood
Reminders:
  • Report cards will go home Wednesday, April 8th.
  • Reading folders will be coming home again this week.  We were busy assessing for report cards last week.  Sorry they didn't get sent home.
  • We try to play outside everyday.  With it heating up, please make sure your child has weather appropriate clothing.  We don't want anyone to get too hot!
In other news, Marcus (aka Mr. Cargill) and I are excited to announce that Baby Cargill is expected to arrive at the end of September.  I am sure some of your kiddos have already shared our news.  We are so excited for this new chapter in our lives.  Thoughts and prayers for a healthy pregnancy and baby are much appreciated!

Reminder:
  • Group picture day is Wednesday, March 25th.  If you would like to order a class picture, they are $12 each.  The money must be sent on or before Wednesday.
  • There will be no school Friday, March 27th due to the Stock Show.  Enjoy your long weekend!

Week at a Glance: March 2-6

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Here is what we will be working on this week:
  • Phonics/Sight Words: beginning blends and digraphs (sh, th, ch), reviewing sight words
  • Reading: Back up and reread
  • Writing: How to Writing
  • Math: More subtracting within 10 and Shapes
  • Social Studies: Texas
Reminders:
  • This week is Dr. Seuss Week.  We will be doing some fun activities and have a different theme every day.  They are:
    • Monday-  Wear silly socks and stripes
    • Tuesday- Bring your favorite Dr. Seuss book to read with a buddy.  Make sure they are labeled.
    • Wednesday-  Wear a silly hat
    • Thursday-  Wear a shirt with as many words as possible for your friends to read.
    • Friday-  Dress up as your favorite Dr. Seuss character.  Students who write a "blurb" about their favorite character or book will receive a spirit stick from the library.
  • Next week is Spring Break!  :)

  • Writing: Continuing with personal narratives. 
  • Math: Adding and Subtracting within 10
  • Science: Magnets and Motion
Reminders:
  • We will be passing out Valentine's cards Friday, February 13th.  Please make sure your child has a Valentine for every student in the class.  If you need a new list, please let me know!
  • We will be decorating our bags in class this week.  If you would like to send anything to help with this project (stickers, glitter glue, etc.) it would be greatly appreciated!

  • Reading: What do good readers do to get ready to read?
  • Writing: Continuing with personal narratives. 
  • Math: One more/One less and numbers 16-20
  • Science: Energy (Heat, Light, Sound)
Reminders:
  • Thursday, February 5th is the 100th day of school.  I can't wait to see the shirts your kiddos have created!
  • Look for a new snack calendar in folders today.
  • Look for the Valentine's note in folders this week.
